RSGC is a very busy place, but if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the school day, make your way to room 114 on Thursday, at 1 o’clock; here, and sometimes in the garden, is where you’ll find the Environment Club.

The Environment Club has many members, and attendance grows each week; this includes students from all senior school grades and faculty supervisors Ms. Totten and Ms. Bader-Shaw.

The Environment Club is currently working on many things, one of which is earning the gold level in how eco-friendly the school is through a program called Ontario EcoSchools, which has 1720 schools all across Ontario involved in the initiative to make schools green and more environmentally friendly.

RSGC is continuing in the project this year by adding living walls in and around the school. If you do not know what a living wall is, it is a wall full of lush green plants. Teachers want them in their class, not only for their classroom curriculum, but for their natural beauty. A rumour is also circulating that they are thinking of renting two chickens for the spring. This week, the Environment Club planted in the garden behind the Chapel some garlic, potatoes, and some lemon. Overall, Environment Club is an initiative that keeps nature relevant in our urban landscape.
